An Afghanistan veteran and his family have been made and now face spending Christmas in a Travelodge after a water tank in their military home ‘exploded’, causing catastrophic damage.

Corporal Glen Price and his wife Anna were left heartbroken when they returned from their dream holiday to the Dominican Republic on Thursday to find their home in tatters – and all their two children’s presents ruined by flood water.

‘All the painted walls have bubbled up.Every single crack in the ceiling and walls has water pouring out of it,’ said Anna Price

Speaking to MailOnline, a tearful Anna said: ‘We have lost everything. All we have are two suitcases with our holiday clothes in.

The couple are now staying in a Travelodge in Aldershot, close to Keogh Barracks, which is the home of 22 Field Hospital where Cpl Price – who served in Afghanistan in 2013 – is based.  

Speaking about their nightmare ordeal, mother-of-three Anna said: ‘We had just come back from our first family holiday.It was a dream holiday that we had been saving for for so long. 

‘We got back home at 9.05am and Kombi Servisi my husband went inside and saw everything was flooded.

‘We had five inches of water on the ground floor.Everything was swimming, all clothing and couches were ruined. We have a massive crack in the living room. 

‘All the painted walls have bubbled up. Every single crack in the ceiling and walls has water pouring out of it.

‘It looks like a water tank has exploded.It looks like something exploded upstairs just above the kids’ room. If we weren’t own holiday I don’t know what could have happened… the ceiling could have collapsed on them. It’s horrible.’

The family had spent hundreds of pounds in the run up to Christmas on gifts and food, and bought the children presents, which included Paw Patrol toys, stuffed dinosaurs and a wooden play kitchen. 

Mrs Price added: ‘We bought them a wooden play kitchen. They have been asking for it for ages and we were saving for ages to get it.With bills going up it was difficult. 

‘They now have nothing left. All their presents have been ruined.’ 

News of the family’s plight soon swept through the military community, with neighbours rallying to offer food, clothing and some toys for the Prices.

, supported by 22 Field Hospital’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel John Greener.

In a tweet on Thursday evening, Lt Col Greener appealed for people to support the community drive, which raised more than £1,500 in a day.

Lobbying the likes of Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and former defence minister Leo Docherty, MP for Aldershot, in a tweet from 22 Field Hospital’s social media account, Lt Col said: ‘Please share far and wide and let’s dig deep for one of our soldiers and their family.’

Responding, Iraq and Afghanistan veteran Mr Docherty said: ‘Thanks. Do please put them in touch with me – I’ll help however I can.’
