The spas are different types, each with a different rate of income, bathroom, design and various other features. However, they all, in practice, look and feel the same. It would have been nice to see a different “theme” for each salon type.

Instead, it will be the same for all of them. Even the ones you buy to upgrade look and feel exactly the same. Every time you buy new equipment, it is basically the same: you drag it on to the screen, click to open the instructional window where you can watch a short video on how to use it and then click “Apply”. Not very user-friendly. It’s especially annoying when you spend all your money upgrading a washroom to make it look more like the others, only to realize that they are all the same layout. That results in ‘goof up’ moments, but at least it’s not as infuriating as when the upgrade window pops up and offers you the option to either buy a new telephone or a new sofa.

The game gives you the vague impression that housework and all of Sally’s activities are done by your workers. There are plenty of them, though they go about their tasks in a very repetitive manner. The players’ options are also very limited; the basic customer service methods are ‘chat’, ‘give a free item’, ‘dispense a free item’, ‘visit your worker’. That’s it. Along with that, every time you upgrade a house, there is a brief time where the workers will all leave and go to the toilet leaving Sally with all of her customers. This is sometimes a good thing, but sometimes it’s just aggravating and forces you to do (woops) ‘physic cleaning’.

You are also given around 30 houses to play with, and perhaps even more if you expand to a bigger/smaller screen. The interfaces are huge in comparison to their actual size and once you add a few more bells and whistles, the screen could just as easily be double the size.
